![]() I store everything maps, geocaches, and hundreds of POIs on the micro sd card. Garmin 650t will only download last 4 activities to Mac then appears to lockup. Although I live in Canada and have complete North America maps, I alse store maps of various countries in Europe, all of the UK, and city maps of Budpest and Prague. Bit of a learning curve but well worth the effort. ![]() Maps can be obtained from OpenStreetMaps. The 4 inch screen is very clear in sunlight and the backlight is bright in the shade/night. Now, I use the 650t for everything, geocaching, driving (nuvi mode), boating, and hiking. The readability of the screen sold it for me over the Oregon. In my experience the 550 is a bit of a battery hog but I use only Sanyo Eneloop NiMH batteries in my gps, digital camera, and tv remote, and I have a quality LaCrosse BC900 charger so I survive quite nicely. I have the Montana 650t and love the large screen. Geotagging is a feature of the other Oregons as well. For this I plan to use GoogleEarth images that I have geotagged. I quite like the concept of geotagged pictures and have planned a major tour of Eastern Europe in the fall. GB 1:50k Ordnance survey maps for your Garmin GPS unit, just put the micro SD card into the back of your Garmin GPS unit. When utilizing routes, only 50 points can be used for on road navigation. The Garmin TOPO Great Britain PRO 1:50k map card also offers on-trail guidance of the OS Detailed Path Network, available for more than 53,000 km of paths and trails in all British National Parks. If the GPX file containing a waypoint or geocache is deleted, the waypoint will no longer be available on device. I like the unit even though the camera is not very good, best described as simply acceptable. Montana 600t Camo, 650t, 680t: approximately 3,500 (due to internal mapping) Each GPX file can contain a mixture of waypoints, geocaches, routes and tracks. There was a pretty good deal on at GPSCity Calgary at the end of Feb for an Oregon 550 so that was my choice. This link is probably the easiest way and should work, but the montana is a newer model and things can change.You may find, as I have with a Nivi 1390 garmin that you can have several maps of different names in the memory card.On older units GMAPsupp was the only name that would load. Well, the screen on my old Etrex Legend was becoming problematic so in Jan '12 a friend lent me an Oregon 450 for a couple of weeks.
